Panel Summaries:
Panel 1: How Capital Providers Are Responding to the Changing Financing Markets
With rising interest rates, inflation, and increasing financial uncertainty, how have capital providers responded to the M&A market? Under these current market conditions, what opportunities/risks have emerged specifically for Independent Sponsors and what can we predict moving into 2023? Are we seeing changes to investment theses and if so, what are those shifts? Is there a lack of access to the right capital? With the increased cost of debt, how are equity structures in certain deals being impacted? Join us for a discussion on how the current environment is impacting M&A activity, timing, and certainty, particularly in the lower end of the middle market.
Moderator: Chase Stuart, Partner at Ice Miller
Panelists:
Paul Shufro, Principal at Greyrock Capital Group
Drew Scannell, Principal at NewSpring Capital
Curtis Glovier, Senior Investment Advisor at Grafine Partners
Dane Joella, Managing Director at MGG Investment Group, LP
Panel 2: Impact of Volatility and Shifting Market Conditions on the Direct Lending Market
The volatility hitting broadly syndicated markets is working its way down to the lower middle market. How has that impacted financing for independent sponsors generally, and how has private credit held up across different segments? More specifically, how and where are independent sponsors able to access private credit in some of the harder hit sectors? What alternatives are available for financing in those harder hit sectors? Join our panel of experienced private lenders as they explore these questions and many more while sharing their advice with the crowd.

This group of industry professionals from a variety of backgrounds will also share their perspectives on what the independent sponsor investment landscape will look like in the current and forecast milieu, and how investors and management teams will need to continue to adapt amidst increasing multilevel uncertainty.
